We spent over a decade answering one question: Can a faster-growing material produce a pencil that writes just as well—or even better?
The answer is Mao bamboo. High-altitude Mao bamboo matures in just 3–5 years. When harvested, its root system remains intact, sending up new shoots the very next year. To produce the same weight in poplar wood, you’d need to wait over a decade.
Today, we are the pioneers of bamboo graphite pencils: holding 18 patents (3 invention patents, 15 utility model patents), and as the lead drafting organization, we established China’s first bamboo pencil group standard — T/AJZCY 011—2026, Bamboo Substitution for Plastic: Bamboo Pencil.
Why Bamboo?
High density, hardness, and a tendency to warp — these are the very qualities that kept bamboo from becoming a pencil material for millennia. It took us over a decade of R&D to solve this. The result: bamboo performs in sharpening as well as traditional poplar pencil boards.
The natural bamboo grain is a byproduct of the journey. Every pencil’s texture is unique, its color shifting naturally with age and section — something industrial coatings can never replicate. Bulk orders can lock in appearance standards through pre-production approval samples.
